BETA COOL ANTACID TABLES
Each tablet contains:
- Dried Aluminium Hydroxide 300mg
- Magnesium Aluminium Silicate 50mg
- Magnesium Hydroxide 25mg
- Simethicone 25mg
Mechanism of action
Beta cool antacid tablet is a double action antacid as it neutralizes excess acid and reduces gas. It has both long, and short term acting neutralizing capacities. The solubility of Magnesium Hydroxide is very low and hence the hydroxide ions do not accumulate to a concentration that is corrosive. Nevertheless Magnesium Hydroxide is quiet reactive with hydrogen ions and it is the most rapidly acting of the insoluble antacids. Aluminium hydroxide is also relatively insoluble and the rate of hydrogen ion neutralization is slower. In order to reduce constipation that is associated with Aluminium hydroxide, it is given in combination with a Magnesium containing antacid which is Magnesium Aluminium Silicate. By having the combination of the antacids, gives immediate and sustained antacid action. Additionally lower doses of the ingredients are added hence lowering undesirable effects.
Simethicone reduces the surface tension of the gas bubbles causing them to coalense. Hence it acts by elimination of gas or air from the gastrointestinal tract.
For relief from peptic ulcer pains, gastric discomfort, heartburn, overindulgence and flatulence.
