CANDISTAT (Clotrimazole cream 1% w/w)

Clotrimazole is a broad spectrum antimycotic which acts on fungi, yeasts, moulds etc. It shows activity against Candida spp., Tinea spp., and Malassezia furfur.

Indications

Candistat cream is indicated for treatment of cutaneous candidiasis, Tinea infections of the body, head and nails and pityriasis versicolor.

Dosage and administration

The cream should be applied sparingly to the affected areas twice daily for 3 to 6 weeks. Recurrence is common if the full course of treatment is not completed.

Side effects

There is very little absorption of Clotrimazole through intact skin to give rise to systemic side effects. In a small fraction of recipients, Clotrimazole may cause stinging, erythema, edema, vesication, desquamation, pruritus and urticaria. Contact allergic dermatitis has been reported.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole
