An antihistamine, Cetrizine 10 MG Tablet is a medication that can be used for treating allergic symptoms like itching, sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. It is also effective to treat swelling or itching that is caused by hives. 

The chemical known as histamine is the reason for the allergic symptoms that you suffer from. Being an antihistamine, Cetrizine 10 MG Tablet reduces or blocks this chemical in your body, thus reliving you from the symptoms. This medicine can reduce your symptoms, but not prevent it. You can take this medicine in the form of tablets, capsule or syrup. You can take this medicine along with your food or without it.

Cetrizine 10 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you have a known history of allergy to it. 

Kidney Disease 

Cetrizine 10 MG Tablet is not recommended if you are suffering from end-stage kidney disease, were the Creatinine clearance in such cases is less than 10 ml/min. It should not be used in children below 12 years with kidney abnormalities


Cetrizine 10 MG Tablet selectively inhibits the peripheral H1 receptors thereby reducing the histamine levels in the body. It specifically acts on allergies caused in the stomach and intestine, blood vessels and airways leading to the lung


Cetirizine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, sneezing, hives, and itching. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction.

Cetirizine does not prevent hives or prevent/treat a serious allergic reaction (such as anaphylaxis). Therefore, if your doctor has prescribed epinephrine to treat allergic reactions, always carry your epinephrine injector

with you. Do not use cetirizine in place of your epinephrine.

Side Effects

Drowsiness, tiredness, and dry mouth may occur. Stomach pain may also occur, especially in children. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. If your doctor has prescribed this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. 

Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: difficulty urinating, weakness.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
