EMDEMOL (Paracetamol syrup)

Each 5ml contains Paracetamol BP 120mg

Therapeutic class: Analgesic/ anti-pyretic drug

Indications:

For the treatment of infants and children with conditions requiring temporary relief of fever and discomfort due to colds, flue and of simple pain discomfort due to teething. It is useful as an analgesic and antipyretic in many bacterial, viral and protozoa infections such as bronchitis, malaria, sinusitis and otitis media.

Contraindications

Not recommended for nursing mothers. Also to patients who are hypersensitive to paracetamol.

Side effects

Thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia and agranulocytosis. Pancreatitis, skin rashes and other allergic reactions occur occasionally.

Precaution

Paracetamol should be given with care to patient with impaired kidney or liver function

Dosage

Take orally.

  • 3 months to 1 year, one tea spoonful 3-4 times a day
  • 1 year to 5 years, two teaspoonfuls 3-4 times a day
  • over 5 years three teaspoonfuls 3-4 times a day

Overdosage

In massive may cause hepatic toxicity in some patients. Early symptoms may include nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

The stomach should be emptied promptly by lavage or by induction of emesis with syrup of ipecac
