Sulphadar is indicated for the Intermittent Preventive Therapy of malaria in pregnancy (IPTp). The aim of IPTp is to prevent the worst effect of malaria infection I pregnancy rather than to cure.

ORODAR/ Sulfadoxine & Pyrimethamine (SP)
ORODAR/ Sulfadoxine & Pyrimethamine (SP). Sulfadoxine is a long acting sulphonamide which inhibits production of nucleic acids in sensitive micro-organisms including the malaria causing plasmodium species. Pyrimethamine is an antimalarial drug which inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase essential in the production of nucleic acids in the parasite.
Primaquine
Primaquine is primarily used to prevent relapse of malaria due to Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium ovale. It eliminates hypnozoites, the dormant liver form of the parasite, after the organisms have been cleared from the bloodstream
